Sketchbook - Midterm

 

New painting - Initial progress

 Painting progress as of just before reading week. The size (30x40 inches) is consistent with my last painting, and stylistically it will be somewhat similar in its cartoonish approach to form. I am using my childhood home as a starting point for this painting.

    These photographs are interesting to me because they were captured by google before I moved from this home. I moved away in 2014, and these images were obviously taken well before then because of the young looking children’s chalk drawings on the driveway. My dad also only had this white work truck until I was roughly 7-8.The empty lot beside my old home where I would catch grasshoppers no longer exists - a industrial garage taking up the lot now. The water tower was a very prominent presence in my h childhood, as I could see it from both my house and school, and it was something I was strangely fascinated with as well.
